Adega De Pegoes Colheita Seleccionada Branco

Country: Portugal Region: Península de Setúbal

Varietal: 30% Fernão Pires, 25% Antão Vaz, 25% Verdelho, 10% Arinto, 10% Chardonnay, White Blend

Vintage: 2023 Colour: White Style: Dry

Producer: Adega de Pegoes

"Adega de Pegões is a cooperative winery located in the Setúbal region. With over 100 growers, it covers 1,117ha and the majority of production is red wine. But this white wine is a blend of native Portuguese varieties Fernão Pires, Verdelho, Antão Vaz and Arinto, with a small proportion of Chardonnay too. Fermented and aged in American and French oak, it's a bold and full-on style of wine with a pungent nose of roses and peach skin. Intense and intriguing, the notes of lavender and patchouli are backed up by a full and creamy texture. There's 6.4g/L of residual sugar, which doesn't necessarily come through as sweetness but gives a long, lush finish."

Tasting Note:  "Mmm. Really rather creamy, interesting and appealing on the nose and full, mildly floral and satin-textured on the palate. It’s certainly easy to drink now – not unlike an especially light marmalade (do they still make Golden Shred?) – but it also seems constituted for a few more years’ development. Great evidence of the value to be found in Portugal.

Food Matches: Seafood, grilled fresh fish, white meats and as an aperitif.
