Established in 1881, Pio Cesare, now run by fifth generation Pio Boffa, was one of the very first producers to believe in the potential and quality of the great wines of Piemonte and to export to Ireland. A ceaseless devotion to the individuality of each of the region’s wines informs Pio’s choices in the vineyards and cellar. He applies a ‘minimal intervention’ philosophy to wine making, creating wines that year after year, are ranked among the world’s best wines.

The name “L’Altro” means “the other” in Italian and this refers to the fact that this not the fact that it is not the Pio Cesare Estate Chardonnay.

 L'Altro white wine is born in vineyards located in Treiso (Cascina Il Bricco) in the Barbaresco area, in Trezzo Tinella (Bossania) and Monforte d'Alba (Mosconi) in the Barolo area.

The wine is made from Chardonnay grapes with a small addition of Sauvignon Blanc. After vinification in steel, the Chardonnay is aged for a short time in barriques, while the Sauvignon in steel.

Tasting Notes:

James Suckling - "This shows notes of glazed lemons and white nectarines with hints of dried currant leaf, beeswax and crushed stones. Medium-bodied, creamy and sleek with a polished and textural finish. Focused and attractive.

Food Suggestion: Enjoy with seafood especially crustaceans, light meats and pasta with light sauces.
